Various WAN Connection
WAN
connection - when browsing WAN cloud data message, he will roam from
point to point differently depending on the physical WAN connection and
protocol used. WAN
connection type is normally dependent on the services that can be
provided by the WAN provider, and also related to the type of physical
interface used to connect the router. There
are many types of connections, but if possible, choose the type of
connection that technology can support higher data rate and supports
flexible configuration.
Note:
DTE Data Terminal Equipment is located on the side of the WAN link connections that send and receive data. DTE is on the customer side of the building and as a point passes between WAN and LAN networks. DTE is usually a Router, but the computer and multiplexers can also act as a DTE. Broadly, the DTE is all the equipment that is on the side where the customer communicates with DCE on the other side.
Demarc is the demarcation point where the cabling from the telephone company connect to the wiring at the customer's home. Generally,
customers are responsible for all the equipment side of the demark and
Telkom are responsible for all the parties on the other side of the
demark equipment.
Local loop is an extension cord to the telephone central office.
Central
office is switching facilities and also provides WAN cloud entry and
exit points for incoming and outgoing calls, and also acts as a
switching point to forward data to another central office. Central office also provides services such as telephone switching signal enters the trunk line. CO also serves to provide DC power to the local loop to form the electric circuit.
DCE is a data circuit terminating equipment that communicates with the DTE and the WAN cloud. DCE is generally a router side which relay the data provider messages between the customer and the WAN cloud. DCE is any device that supply the clocking signal to the DTE. A modem or CSU / DSU customers often classified as DCE. DCE DTE such as a router can be similar but each has its own role-2.
PSE is a packet switching exchange, a switch in a packet-switched bearer network. PSE merupakana intermediate point in the WAN cloud.
WAN cloud is the hierarchy of the trunk, switches, and central offices that form the telephone network connection. Why
are presented by Cloud due to a variety of physical structures and
network-2-2 with common connection points can be overlapped with each
other.
Standard WAN connection
Recommended standard WAN connection is as follows.
For WAN services using a serial connection, use a serial cable V.35
For low-speed WAN links (below 64Kbps) commonly associated with analog PSTN, use kebel serial RS-232.
For
ISDN BRI connection, UTP cable (CAT5) cables used should wear a
different color (white or yellow) of UTP cable is commonly used to
indicate that the cable is a WAN connection. Please note that ISDN equipment connected to ISDN buksan devices can cause damage.
For WAN connections ISDN terminal adapter (TA) should be avoided; should use native ISDN router.
All wiring must be documented and clearly labeled.
There are three categories of existing WAN connections:
Dedicated Point-to-point leased line (synchronous serial) such as T1, T3
Circuit-switched network (asynchronous serial) such as ISDN
Packet-switched networks (synchronous serial) such as frame relay, X.25
Dedicated connection or leased line
Dedicated
connection or leased line is a permanent line connection point-to-point
link between two devices that have karakteristic following:
Dedicated point-to-point - synchronous serial
Permanent connections, such as T1, T3
The availability of high
Connections are usually hired from a service provider WAN
Leased line more expensive than other WAN solutions
Using a separate connection each two points
WAN Point to Point Connections
When should wear this type of WAN connection type?
If we have a network of high traffic over WAN network
If you need a constant connection between the site
Just have some interconnection site only
Please read the PPP Protocol for understanding this type of WAN connection.
Circuit-switched networks
Connection
type circuit-switched networks provide an alternative to leased line,
allowing us to use shared connection (shared line). This type of WAN connection works both ways, WAN dial-in and dial-out. When we use the circuit-switched WAN connection, then:
Sending computer dials in to the connection and WAN connections formed
Receiving computer to send notifications and lock connection
Sending computer transmits this data through the WAN connection
Once the transmission is complete, the connection is released so that another user can use
Circuit Switched WAN connection
Cisrcuit switched networks using virtual switch circuit (SVC). A dedicated data transmission lines formed before the communication starts with disconnecting electric switch. The line will remain established until the communication ends.
See article on ISDN networks that use this type of WAN connection.
Packet-switched networks
Packet-switched networks do not require a separate connection or connection temporary backup. Conversely types of packet-switched network allows data packets path set dynamically when the data flows through the network. This network connection type has the following characteristics:
Message is broken down into packets-2 (not the Eid package atu)
Package-2 roam independently through interjaringan (ie take a different path)
On the receiving pack-2 in re-assembling the proper sequence
Tools sender and receiver assumes a connection is 'always on' (does not require dial-up)
Type of WAN connection uses a permanent virtual circuit (PVC). Although
the PVC look directly connected - separate WAN path, the path taken by
each packet through the inter-network can be different (pribahasanya:
many routes to Jakarta).
